Person Business Rules

The Person Business Rules define the data integrity rules for person data in the Washington State Courts database. If people in the database are not inputted into the database in a consistent manner, or matched to arrest record in a consistent manner, the wrong person can be arrested or worse, the real offender can go free.

Previous versions of PBR material were targeted towards declarative or process knowledge. Through task analysis, it was determined the appropriate learning task was 'domain specific problem solving' as defined by Smith and Ragan (2005)

Click and read tutorials were redeveloped into a multi-level serious game format that led learners through highly sequenced problem sets, providing links to process and declarative knowledge where necessary.

Job aids were developed to assist learners with just-in-time information after the completion of the learning game

First 30 Days Project

Designed for new  Washington State Court employees, this set of modules is designed to deliver the knowledge, skills and abilities they need to handle the data integrity issues and customer service issues that arise on a daily basis.

Built using Captivate 5.5, 6 & 7, Flash, Presenter and delivered through Adobe Connect, this set of modules push the boundaries of what the judiciary was used to. AICC compliant reporting was used to track learner progress through the modules so learning managers could diagnose learning problems, assess knowledge and skill level with the proprietary technology, and track their people through the multiple training modules.

All interface items (buttons, backgrounds, etc) as well as all Captivate and Flash modules were developed by me.

ID Process Upgrade

A form of the ADDIE process was being used by the education professionals in the unit when I arrived. This model was poorly documented, lacked project management criteria, applied in a haphazard manner and without clear communication with stakeholders. I was tasked with developing process and documentation for development of online content

I took the existing ADDIE model and combined it with Michael Allen's Successive Approximation Model (SAM). I developed supporting documentation with project management and Instructional Design controls and created workflows to streamline the development process.

Case For Christ Learning Events

Designed for congregants in a mid-size, contemporary church, the goal of the project was to inspire the congregants to begin discussions with each other and others in the community about reasons for their faith. Based on the book of the same name by Lee Strobel, 12 30 to 45 minute lessons were designed to be delivered at Wednesday evening services in a sequential format.

To facilitate discussion during and after presentation of the material, 'Live Events' from YouVersion were used to allow those with mobile devices to interact with the content during the presentation. Though the use of live opinion polls, questionnaires and other live interactions, data from congregants in attendance could then be aggregated and projected live during the presentation, allowing the instructor to facilitate discussions based on the needs of the congregants in attendance.
